CITY OF BUFFALO
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
November 20, 2007
The Buffalo City Council met in Regular Session in the Council Chambers of City Hall. Present were Mayor Anderson and Councilman Humphrey. Mayor Anderson called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Anderson announced that all business transactions would be moved to the December 4, 2007 meeting as no quorum was present. This includes the Public Hearing for the Liquor License Renewals. Anderson further explained that the state statute requiring one meeting a month had been met.
Alicia Bankston, Assistant City Planner, informed Council that City Planner, Colin Betzler, was out of town. Bankston updated Council on the success of the Johnson County Assessment and advised of the upcoming town meeting in January. Mayor Anderson stated the assessment would aid in future funding for the City and County.
Public Works Director, Les Hook, thanked Council for the turkey certificates for the employees. Hook gave an updated status on the Water Treatment Plant Expansion project and addressed questions from Council on the Northridge Drainage project. Hook also accepted praise from Council on the repairs to the Hogerson and Main intersection. Public Works Foreman, Kenn Durfee, updated Council on the Hydro plant repairs and the traveling water screen project. Durfee also announced that two more employees had passed their CDL tests.
Mike Chapman, Police Chief, announced that the police recorder needed replaced and new recording systems were being reviewed. Chapman also updated Council on training schedules for officers. In closing, Chapman also thanked the Council for the turkey certificates.
Chris Spencer, Project Coordinator/Building Inspector, thanked Council for the turkey certificates as well. Spencer updated Council on funding options for city projects, the large amount of contractor licensing renewals being processed by the City Hall staff and reviewed the building permit and fee process. In closing, Spencer announced the Fullerton sidewalk project was 70% complete.
In closing, Mayor Anderson announced that City Hall would be closed November 22 and 23, 2007 for Thanksgiving. Anderson thanked all entities involved in putting up the Christmas lights downtown and encouraged everyone to express their thanks as well. Mayor Anderson also reminded everyone of the Christmas Parade on December 1, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. with chili and hot chocolate in Crazy Woman Square.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 4:20 p.m.
