Meeting Minutes for December 3, 2007—taken by Alicia Bankston, Assistant City Planner
1. Updates:
a. Inventory—handout + Bill provided trail inventories and descriptions on the following trail segments: city streets and parks, greenbelt, greenbelt bird nesting boxes, centennial trail
b. Binder—explanation of “master trail plan research” binder, can be found @ City Hall
c. Memo—SD1 Principals—memo send 11/21/07—request for information on schools and trail use
d. National Trails Day-June 7, 2008--
e. ADA standards—no ADA standard for recreational trails, there are ADA standards for parking lots and facilities; most “disable-friendly” policy is to provide clear, accurate trail descriptions
f. Mountain Plains Heritage Park—Colin and Alicia toured the site with Jo Robinson, the MPH park would like to be included in trail system; potential loop extension to be explored
g. Emerson Scott—has a copy of the trail history, needs to be contacted for his comments
2. Board Vacancy—Steve Nuckolls’ term expires—April 2008
3. Recommend a motion: Buffalo Trails Board Officers—intend to call a special meeting for a vote, no quorum
4. Discussion: at-large board members—intend to vote on this issue at special meeting
5. Updates: Current projects—Shiloh update: Colin invited Ray Garland to the meeting—waiting on agreement and availability to start project; Bridge update: waiting on return letters from review agencies; Rec. Board: Colin and Alicia plan to attend and present at next meeting
6. Discussion: naming trail system, trail theme—possible ideas: multi-use/multi-surface trail system, tie into local history with one or more interpretative trails, the trail’s beginnings were all volunteer/community driven
