Meeting was called to order at 4:43 pm with the following members in attendance: Bill Cooley, Mary Fowlkes, Jack Tartar, Lois Petersen, Dave Palmerlee, and Patti Reid. Also present were former BTB Chair Bill Mentock, and Asst. City Planner, Alicia Bankston. Approved the minutes of the April meeting and agenda for the May meeting.

1. Discussed fundraiser idea brought up by Rob Davidson related to using Clear Creek logo as vinyl decal for use in car window. Could be used as a thank you for a donation in support of trail-related needs and projects. Approved a motion authorizing Mary Fowlkes to research the cost of producing the decals. Buffalo Charitable Association or another organization might be able to help with set ups costs for this type of fundraising effort.
2. Bridge Project is moving along and all are still hoping to get it done by June 6, but the dedication will take place even if the project is not entirely completed.
3. BTB will provide food and Buffalo Development Association will provide popsicles or ice cream cups for 300 for our Trails Day celebration – June 6th. We will have 6 or 7 tables for organizations to use for handouts/information sharing. Jack will handle the announcing. Lois will email the mayor reminding the Mayor of the dedication ceremony. Set up will start at 9 am on June 6th.
4. Trail sign histories are getting closer to being done but still some local history buffs will be asked to confirm accuracy of data included. Installing the large kiosks hopefully in June – small kiosks in July or August.
5. Heritage Park Trail is looking great after harrowing. They will also have new equipment to mow the paths in the nature area. Thistles on the north side of pond are being dealt with by Weed and Pest. We might ask Rod Litzel to train us (BTB) on identifying noxious weeds. Concern about litter and the dumping of yard waste in the parking lot by the pond. City ordinance already states no dumping on city property, but may have to put a “no dumping” sign in the lot as well. Might want to do an article about dumping and value of wetlands area.
6. Mary Fowlkes and Alicia will attend the Rec. Board meeting to present the three BTB grant requests tomorrow night.
7. Bill and Dave met with Forest Service and BLM and both are in favor of the proposed Grouse Mountain extension. Dave Palmerlee developed a resolution allowing Bill to appoint a committee of trail board members, community members, etc. to do preliminary planning. The BTB would have to approve any expenditure of time, money, etc. The Wyoming Conservation Corp (students working for credit) might be able to help with this trail project – the permitting process and building of the trail as well. Dave has volunteered to head up this effort. A motion was made, seconded and approved to put Dave in charge of this process and to approve the resolution. Dave noted that if a bridge is needed over Clear Creek, an environmental assessment will be necessary. International Mountain Biking Association might be able to help with trail layout workshops and Rivers and Trails might also be a support for this project. Bill will focus on help from IMBA and Rivers and Trails, while Dave will work with the WY Conservation Corp.
8. New brochures are in and containers are now available to display them. Bill Cooley will visit potential display locations, get approval from the person in charge at each location, and then each BTB member will volunteer to check a few of those places occasionally to re-stock.
9. Covered under #4 above.
10. A portion of the dog waste station at Turkey Lane needs to be replaced. Waste station at .3 mile marker on Greenbelt and garbage can there need to be tended to.
11. No correspondence reported.
12. Other:
Hoof prints repainted downtown by Bill Mentock. Thank you Bill! He has also done weeding on Mentock Trail. Bill reports working ˝ hour a day lately and that the trail is in really good shape right now.
Line trimming needed soon on Mentock and around parking lot. Power plant loop and picnic area need mowing. Brush has been reduced up by Vets Home and looks nice now.
Tabled discussion of new board member to replace Kelly Hornby.
Discussed putting signs on Turkey Lane to identify private property. Need to do some research on where the legal easement is located.

Next meeting will be June 24th 4:30

Bill Mentock noted that Gil Bollinger is interested in having some signs developed that would mark the tipi ring and lodge ring along the Greenbelt Trail at the .7 mile marker. This might be part of a trail signage program in the future.

State Forestry brush piles on Mentock Trail may be dealt with by wood chipper this summer or they will burn them next winter.
